What is GitHub Enterprise Cloud?
GitHub Enterprise Cloud (GHEC) is the VA’s instance of GHEC for public repositories and cross-organization collaboration. It is a cloud-based version of GitHub that is hosted on GitHub infrastructure and is available to all VA employees.
If your project requires that your repositories be public, i.e., open source or available to the general internet, or you require giving direct access to an internal or private repository to someone outside the VA with “@va.gov” credentials and PIV, such as an individual with another federal agency, you should use GitHub Enterprise Cloud.
If your project does not require either of these things, the VA’s default GitHub instance is GitHub Enterprise Managed Users and provides additional security features and benefits.
How do I Get Started with GHEC?
To get access to the GitHub Enterprise Cloud follow the Getting GHEC Access guide.
For additional guidance, such as requesting access to a specific organization, use the GHEC Guides page.
