Create EMU Service Account

Users may create service accounts using Active Directory Service Accounts

Creating a Service Account

Service Accounts, also known as bot accounts, are used to automate tasks or provide shared credentials for GitHub. Users may create a service account by following the instructions in the Onboarding Service Accounts guide in the PAS Reference Guides.

Follow the instructions in the Requesting a Service Account section of the guide.

IMPORTANT
When requesting a Service Account for GitHub, you are not requesting an Elevated Permissions account, be sure to follow the instructions for Standard Service Accounts to ensure your request is completed expeditiously.

Also be sure to follow the instructions for providing Specific Information, which will also help expedite your request such that the AD team does not need to reach out to you for additional information.

To access your service account, you will need to be on a GFE, AVD, or CAG system. Once logged in, simply open Microsoft Edge and follow the official document to Create an Additional Profile and login as the service account with the username and credentials provided in your PAS Vault created by the AD team in your YourIT ticket.

Once the service account is created and you have logged in through your Microsoft Edge profile, you will be able to log in to Microsoft MyApps as the service account from any GFE, AVD, or CAG system and request access to the VA’s GitHub organization just as you did for yourself by following the EMU Access Guide.
